Move over New York. While Jersey City may not have art museums the likes of The Met, our city is packed with artists, galleries and performances spaces. Here are three art galleries to check out in Jersey City.
Mana Contemporary
Based right here in Jersey City is Mana Contemporary. Although Mana has galleries in Chicago and Miami, Jersey City is home base for Mana, and it’s not only a gallery but a working space so you may see artists working when you visit.
At Mana Contemporary, patrons will explore the works of local artists and major national artists, featuring photography, paintings, sculpture, dance and a lot more.
Panepinto Galleries
Another hidden gem located right here in Jersey City is Panepinto Galleries, founded by Stefania Panepinto in 2011 as a collective space to host art exhibitions, film screenings, photo shoots and more. The gallery highlights the work of more than 50 artists from Jersey City, Manhattan, Hoboken, Brooklyn, Staten Island and the Bronx.
Art House Productions
Founded in September 2001, in direct response to the 9/11 attacks, Art House was initially a place where artists, poets and performers could come together and respond to the tragedy through art and community work.
Today, Art House has established itself as one of the top galleries in Hudson County, offering educational classes and a place where performance art is well appreciated.
